ABOUT RICHARD KING

As the primary consultant for GSA Security Consulting, Richard King brings knowledge, experience and leadership drawn from over 20 years delivering results for some of Australia’s largest corporate brands.
One of the most capable corporate security advisors and global compliance strategists in the industry today, Richard has operated in both the government and corporate sectors, delivering in complex and rapidly evolving environments.
Richard has an exceptional ability to identify how, where and when improvements in security workflows and business processes can provide real value to any organisation.
He combines this with an ability to maximise the effectiveness of existing legacy systems and infrastructure to deliver enterprise level solutions. He has outstanding communication skills with a flair for engaging top level executives, ensuring that all stakeholders are on board.
Experience
In his most recent engagement, Richard was Program Manager for the start-up Office of the NSW Government’s Chief Information Security Officer. During his time in this role, Richard was engaging regularly with State and Federal government agencies to coordinate response capability and emergency management plans.
Previously, Richard was head of IT Risk and Security for a major telecoms firm coordinating security and compliance for large-scale projects including the undersea cables that connect Australia to the world. Prior to that he was responsible for deploying affordable and standardised identity and security solutions for a major airline.
Many of today’s consultants and corporate security advisers stem from HR or military backgrounds. Richard brings to the industry a unique end to end perspective drawn from his formidable experiences in designing, project managing and delivering some of the largest integrated global solutions in use today.
Qualifications and industry recognition
Richard is a regular presenter at corporate and industry events. He holds an international award for Mentoring as part of the ASIS NSW security training program. He holds a current NSW security consultant licence and is a US Board, Certified Protection Professional (CPP). As with all personnel operating in a secure environment, Richard’s clearance status and level is available on request.
